Indian woman dies on Saudia flight
A 65-year-old Indian woman died Sunday evening on a Hyderabad-bound Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) flight.
She was on her way home from Madinah after performing Umrah and a visit to the Prophet's Mosque with her grandson, when she fell ill.
The plane crew announced a medical emergency and the flight was diverted to Muscat.
A spokesperson for the Indian Embassy in Muscat told the Times of Oman that paramedics were geared up to treat the passenger, Shareefa Begum, but she died before arrival at the airport.
The spokesperson added that the embassy was making preparations with the concerned authorities to repatriate the body to India as soon as possible.
