Makkah police search for hit-and-run driver
The Makkah Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a man in a busy road and left him bleeding to death.
The victim, a teacher at a school in the same street, was trying to cross over to the other side of Al-Otaibiah Road in Makkah when he was hit by a white speeding vehicle whose driver suddenly switched from the left to the right lane.
The driver stopped for a moment before speeding away leaving the victim in a pool of blood. He was rushed to hospital with bruises, broken ribs and a head injury.
As per the law, anyone involved in accidents has to remain on the scene, inform the competent authorities and provide every possible help to the victims. Failing to do so will attract a fine of more than SR 10,000, or imprisonment for a maximum of three months, or both.
The traffic police have urged drivers, passengers and witnesses to jot down details of any accident that can help police track down the offenders.
