Saudi undergoes successful heart transplant in Makkah
A medical team at the King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah has successfully performed a heart transplant on a 30-year-old Saudi man whose heart muscles had become extremely weak.
The operation, the second of its kind in the Medical City, was performed by an integrated cardiac surgery team under the supervision of heart specialists.
Due to his condition, the patient was unable to perform his routine activities and could only sleep in the sitting position. The case had worsened over time.
The medical team faced some initial problems during the preparation for the transplant, but it overcame them in cooperation with other specialized departments.
The patient has now resumed his normal life.
