KSrelief Distributes 50 Fishing Boats Equipped with Engines in Yemen’s Al-Mahrah
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) distributed 50 fishing boats equipped with engines yesterday to fishermen affected by cyclones and floods that hit Huswain District in Al-Mahrah Governorate, as part of the Sustainable Agriculture and Fisheries Empowerment Project to enhance resilience in Yemen.
Huswain District Director General Yasser Al-Assad commended KSrelief’s humanitarian role in supporting the fisheries sector, affirming that this assistance will help fishermen resume their work and meet their needs after losing their boats due to the weather conditions that affected the area.
A total of 90 fishing boats equipped with engines and 150 safety kits will be distributed to benefit 150 fishermen in Hadhramaut, Al-Mahrah, and Socotra governorates to improve their livelihoods, open new sources of income, and enable safer, more productive fishing trips.
This project is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts, through KSrelief, to apply best practices in supporting the fisheries sector, one of the most important economic sectors, and to assist fishermen in Yemen.
