Darah Documents King Abdulaziz's Role in Shaping Sharia Education at the Two Holy Mosques

King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud transformed Sharia education at the two holy mosques from scattered individual efforts into an organized institutional system, issuing a regulation in 1345 AH (1926 CE) to govern teaching at the Grand Mosque and appointing an academic committee of elite scholars to teach various Sharia sciences during the five daily prayer times.

The care extended to the Prophet's Mosque, where a decision published in Umm Al-Qura newspaper in 1346 AH (1927 CE) established oversight of educational circles covering Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Aqidah (Creed of Islam), and Arabic language sciences.

Today, educational circles have expanded through live broadcasting and modern technologies, allowing lessons to reach millions of Muslims worldwide.

The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) preserves historical photographs documenting scenes of educational circles at the two holy mosques across different eras, reflecting the depth of care for Sharia science through the decades.
