How Many Nature Reserves Drive Biodiversity and Habitat Protection in AlUla?

The Royal Commission for AlUla is safeguarding regional biodiversity and restoring ecological balance across northwestern Saudi Arabia through six nature reserves distributed across Sharaan, Gharameel, Harrat AlZabin, Harrat Uwayrid, Wadi Al-Nakhlah, and the commission-supervised Khaybar reserve.

By driving ecosystem restoration, land rehabilitation, and native plant cultivation to expand vegetation cover, these comprehensive environmental preservation efforts directly align with the Saudi Green Initiative, which has designated approximately 50% of AlUla's total area as protected zones to date.

Spanning 1,543 square kilometers, the Sharaan National Park stands out as the leading regional example of wildlife restoration and natural resource sustainability.
