Vice Foreign Minister Participates in Ministerial Meeting on Coordinating Reopening of Strait of Hormuz
On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji participated today, via videoconference, in the ministerial meeting on coordinating the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, chaired by the United Kingdom and comprising 35 countries.
The meeting addressed practical efforts to ensure the protection of freedom of navigation in the Bab el-Mandeb and international waters, as well as the safety of transit in the Strait of Hormuz, in a way that achieves security and stability in the region and the world. It also reiterated condemnation of any actions or threats by Iran aimed at obstructing or interfering with international navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, or threatening maritime security in the Bab el-Mandeb, stressing that any infringement on freedom of navigation constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security and requires collective action to safeguard maritime security and ensure safe passage.
The meeting was attended by Director General of Policy Planning Prince Dr. Abdullah bin Khaled bin Saud Al Kabeer.
