Health Ministry: Saudi Nursing Workforce Reaches 44% in 2025
On the occasion of International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12, the Ministry of Health announced that the localization rate of the nursing workforce has risen to 44% in 2025, up from 38% in 2016.
The ministry previously launched a strategy to promote the nursing profession with the goal of achieving self-sufficiency in national nursing staff and enhancing their role in improving the quality of healthcare services.
It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and empowering national nursing staff by enhancing their professional competencies—an effort that contributes to meeting the health sector’s needs and building a comprehensive, integrated healthcare system that strengthens the Kingdom’s leadership in delivering high-quality services both regionally and globally.
