Malaysia Halal Development Chairman Meets Saudi Food and Drug Authority CEO

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of Malaysia Halal Development Council (MPIH) Ahmad Zahid Hamidi received Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) CEO Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey in Kuala Lumpur.

 The meeting highlighted the importance of integration and collaboration in the halal industry, enhanced by the memorandum of cooperation (MOC) signed between the SFDA’s Saudi Halal Center and the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

 The MOC is concerned with the mutual recognition of halal certificates for local products exported between both countries.

 The meeting was attended by Saudi Deputy Ambassador to Malaysia Saleh AlBudaiwi, Saudi Export Development Authority CEO Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Thukair, and Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Deputy Governor for Conformity and Quality Saud bin Rashid Al-Askar.

 Also, Saudi Accreditation Center Executive Director Adel Al-Kaied, Vice President for Operations at the SFDA Vice President for Operations Sami Al-Sager, Halal Products Development Company CEO Fahad Al-Nuhait, and Saudi Export Development Authority advisor Musaid Al-Obaidi took part in the meeting.

 Representing the Malaysian side were Halal Development Corporation Chairman Khairul Azwan Harun, halal industry officials, and representatives from the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
