National Center for Wildlife Announces Project Package Supporting Ecotourism, Including Safari Destinations and Birdwatching Areas
The National Center for Wildlife (NCW) announced a new package of projects aimed at supporting ecotourism and creating opportunities to explore wildlife and biodiversity across several regions of the Kingdom.
The projects include the development of safari destinations in Taif and Thadiq, bird sanctuaries in several reserves and national parks, and designated birdwatching areas in Farasan Islands Reserve and other locations across the Kingdom.
The projects form part of the center’s efforts to develop sustainable tourism destinations that showcase the Kingdom’s rich biodiversity, promote the sustainable development of natural resources, raise environmental awareness, and position Saudi Arabia as a global destination for wildlife- and biodiversity-based tourism.
The initiatives also provide visitors with opportunities to experience native wildlife in natural habitats through a national model linking wildlife development with nature-based tourism experiences. The approach transforms environmentally significant sites into sustainable tourism destinations.
Through these projects, the NCW continues developing pioneering wildlife-based tourism models that highlight the Kingdom’s rich biodiversity, support species and habitat conservation, and offer an authentic Saudi experience that turns natural sites into destinations for learning, discovery, and sustainability while contributing to the sustainable economy.
