Clean Air and Clear Skies Define AlUla’s Environmental Vision

 AlUla’s diverse landscape encompasses mountains, valleys, nature reserves, deserts, oases, and residential areas, creating a blend of nature and daily life. Efforts to preserve air quality, expand vegetation cover, and reduce emissions and light pollution continue as the world marks the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, observed annually on September 7.
 Clear skies are a defining feature of AlUla. During the day, they offer sweeping views of mountains, valleys, and oases, while regulated nighttime lighting helps reduce light pollution and improve the visibility of stars and other celestial bodies.
 Vegetation development is another key part of AlUla’s environmental efforts. Tree planting, land rehabilitation, and afforestation projects in public spaces help restore vegetation cover and expand green areas, while community initiatives involving residents and students promote environmental stewardship.
 Environmental monitoring also plays an important role. The National Center for Environmental Compliance in Madinah Region oversees air-quality monitoring in AlUla, supported by specialized stations and equipment that monitor pollutants, environmental hazards, water quality, and noise levels.
 Together, initiatives ranging from air-quality monitoring and emissions reduction to afforestation and vegetation restoration help preserve AlUla’s natural landscape, ensuring that clean air and clear skies remain among its defining features.
