APhO Competitors Await Results after Completing Practical and Theoretical Exams
Participants in the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) 2025 completed today their theoretical exams. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the competition, which was organized by the Ministry of Education, King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), under the slogan "Together, We Generate the Energy of the Future."
The current edition of the APhO, continuing until May 12, features 240 male and female students from 30 countries, competing in an environment that encourages excellence. The event is supervised by 110 international academics and specialists in physics, supported by 15 working teams from organizing and scientific committees.
Chairman of the Olympiad Organizing Committee Badr AlMajrathi explained that the theoretical exam held today marks the second stage of the competition, following the practical exam conducted a few days earlier—each exam lasting five hours. He noted that the questions were translated into 16 languages and prepared in 30 forms, focusing on physics fields related to renewable energy.
Students are competing for medals and prizes at this major international event. The final results are scheduled to be determined during the concluding meeting on the evening of May 10, with winners to be announced at the closing ceremony on May 11 at KFUPM in Dhahran. A large number of officials and prominent educational and scientific figures will attend the event.
