Ithra Achieves Platinum LEED Certification

King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra), an initiative of Aramco, has achieved a new milestone by obtaining platinum certification for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in the category of Operations and Maintenance: Existing Buildings, issued by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
 This classification reflects Ithra’s efforts to apply an integrated operational system focused on improving resource consumption efficiency, enhancing environmental performance, and adopting best operational practices, with the aim of providing an advanced cultural experience supported by efforts aimed at strengthening environmental performance.
 Manager of the Technical Services Division at Ithra Abdullah Al-Bagmi clarified that obtaining the LEED Platinum certification represents an extension of a continuous operational development journey aimed at enhancing a more efficient and sustainable environment for the center.
 Al-Bagmi added: “Reaching the platinum classification reflects long-term efforts to enhance the internal operational and environmental quality of the center, and embodies the integration of efforts between technical and operational teams in developing a cultural environment that keeps pace with global practices in operations.”
 This achievement extends the efforts led by Ithra in developing its operational systems and enhancing energy and water efficiency and resource management, alongside expanding the scope of environmental practices and recycling programs within the center’s facilities.
 The center also relies on an advanced operational system based on continuous monitoring and analysis of operational and environmental performance, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and raising the quality of provided services, without affecting visitor experience or the cultural and intellectual activities hosted by the center throughout the year.
 Obtaining the LEED Platinum certification marks a new milestone in the center’s path to strengthening its standards in sustainability, following its previous LEED Gold certification, reflecting continuous development and raising the efficiency of environmental and operational performance.
 This achievement aligns with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030 in enhancing environmental sustainability, raising the efficiency of vital facilities, and solidifying concepts of sustainable development and quality of life, thereby enhancing the Kingdom’s position in adopting advanced environmental solutions and practices.
 Ithra continues to develop an operational model that combines culture and technology, within the framework of its vision toward building a cultural environment that is more efficient, sustainable, and impactful.
