Over 1.7 Million Amphetamine Pills Seized at Jeddah Islamic Port

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle 1,719,806 amphetamine pills into the Kingdom through Jeddah Islamic Port, after discovering the illicit drugs meticulously hidden within an incoming shipment.

According to ZATCA, the shipment in question contained equipment, including a mill. During routine customs procedures using advanced security technologies and live detection equipment, a large quantity of pills was discovered concealed within the consignment.

Following the seizure, ZATCA immediately coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the successful arrest of the intended recipient of the seized items in the Kingdom.

The authority urged public cooperation in combating smuggling to protect both society and the national economy. Citizens and residents can report smuggling activities with complete confidentiality and a potential financial reward by contacting ZATCA at 1910 or 009661910 internationally, or via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa.
