SFD Signs $30 Million Transport Agreement, Initiates School Construction in Tajikistan
Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Chief Executive Officer Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad signed a $30 million development loan agreement with Tajik Minister of Finance Qahhorzoda Faiziddin Sattor to fund the Kulob city ring road project. The signing, attended by Saudi Ambassador to Tajikistan Walid bin Abdulrahman Al-Rashidan, highlights the close, 20-year developmental partnership between the two nations.
The ring road project aims to construct a road, including two bridges, to enhance traffic efficiency, improve road safety, and streamline international transit. By connecting Central Asian countries with China and Indian Ocean nations via land, it will ensure the safe transit of goods and vehicles, directly boosting social and economic growth and prosperity.
The SFD chief, joined by Tajik Deputy Minister of Finance Yusuf Majidi and ambassador Al-Rashidan, laid the foundation stone for a new secondary school in the Danghara district. The school is part of the "$20 million Construction and Equipping of Secondary Schools (Phase V) project,” which will establish 11 secondary schools with a combined capacity of over 7,000 students. The initiative highlights the SFD's ongoing support for Tajikistan's education sector, building on the 57 schools previously funded by the SFD for $75 million in the project's earlier four phases.
