GCA and The Gambia’s National Audit Office Sign Memorandum of Understanding on Accounting, Auditing, and Professional Matters

President of the General Court of Audit (GCA) Dr. Hussam Alangari and Auditor General of the National Audit Office of the Republic of The Gambia Cherno Amadou Sowe signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today at GCA’s headquarters in Riyadh. The agreement aims to promote cooperation between the two institutions in accounting, auditing, and professional practice. This effort is part of GCA’s wider effort to strengthen strategic cooperation with peer Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in allied and friendly countries, with the goal of exchanging professional expertise and developing joint programs that support shared objectives.

 Under the MoU, the two SAIs will focus on exchanging expertise, building professional capacity, and developing practice guidelines in financial auditing, compliance auditing, and performance auditing. This will be done through a series of joint workshops and specialized training programs on topics of mutual interest, all within the framework of their membership in the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI).

 In this regard, Dr. Alangari reaffirmed GCA’s ongoing commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening partnerships with peer SAIs in allied and friendly nations. He noted that this reflects GCA’s important role within the SAI community and its dedication to sharing its recognized professional expertise with member SAIs of relevant regional and international organizations.

 For his part, Cherno Amadou Sowe underscored the importance of the memorandum and what it means for strengthening collaboration between The Gambia’s National Audit Office and GCA. He said the agreement will help improve audit efficiency, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and raise the quality of audit work at both institutions.
