Sawani Launches Model Farm with Monthly Production Capacity of Half a Million Liters of Camel Milk

Sawani, a Public Investment Fund camel dairy company and the owner of the NOUG brand, announced the launch of its model farm and a world-leading camel milk production facility in collaboration with German company GEA, a specialist in modern milking systems.

Sawani head of agriculture and camels sector Fawzan Al-Madhi said that the facility has the capacity to house over 10,000 camels and can produce around 500,000 liters of milk per month.

Al-Madhi noted that the facility was designed in accordance with the highest standards of quality and food safety and utilizes advanced technologies. He added that the company had recently launched long-life camel milk products in various sizes and flavors targeting all consumer segments, including children, with distribution already underway across the Kingdom and to international markets, given camel milk’s high nutritional value.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Kingdom is home to over 2.2 million camels across its regions, making it one of the largest camel-owning countries globally. Saudi Arabia is considered one of the most prominent nations in terms of camel population, genetic diversity, and cultural heritage, with camel-based products playing a clear economic role, particularly in meat and milk.

Sawani seeks to develop high-yield camel breeds to increase per-animal production and reinforce the Kingdom's position in the camel milk sector. As part of its strategy, the company aims to build an integrated and sustainable production ecosystem based on the latest operational and veterinary practices to enhance productivity and quality.

Experts in the dairy sector anticipate that the company will make significant strides in supplying the local market with camel milk as a healthy alternative, produced to the highest nutritional quality standards.
