ZATCA Foils Methamphetamine Smuggling Attempt at Empty Quarter Crossing
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at the Empty Quarter (Rub' Al-Khali) border crossing has thwarted an attempt to smuggle 8.9 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed under the air tank of a truck entering the Kingdom.
ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that following the seizure, coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control led to the subsequent arrest of two individuals identified as the recipients of the drugs inside the Kingdom.
Al-Harbi emphasized ZATCA's commitment to tightening customs controls and standing firm against smuggling attempts, aligning with a core pillar of ZATCA's strategy: enhancing security and protection of society by preventing the entry of prohibited substances.
ZATCA encouraged the public to contribute to combating smuggling by reporting any relevant information via its official channels, including the security reports hotline 1910, the international number 00966114108417, or by email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa.
