11 National Sports Medicine Initiatives Launched to Enhance Quality of Life and Support Health Economy

The National Committee for Sports Medicine at the Federation of Saudi Chambers has launched the National Strategy for Sports Medicine. The strategy comprises 11 key initiatives aimed at enhancing the healthcare system for athletes. It also seeks to strengthen the sector’s contribution to the sports-related health economy. The strategy aligns with the Quality of Life Program under Saudi Vision 2030.

The initiatives include establishing the Saudi Sports Medicine Authority. They also cover creating an infrastructure fund, developing a governance framework for accrediting centers, hospitals, and doctors, and issuing a national regulatory guide for sports medicine.

The strategy involves launching a national insurance product for athletes. It also introduces specialized academic programs, including diplomas and fellowships. Another key component is the establishment of a national center for research and innovation in sports medicine.

At the community level, the initiatives focus on national campaigns for preventive medicine and sports injuries. They also support human competencies through training and development. In addition, the strategy includes a media initiative and guidelines on professional ethics related to the field.

To enhance the Kingdom's regional and international standing, the strategy outlines agreements and partnerships with local and global entities.
