Hunting Season Attracts Enthusiasts in Northern Borders
The Northern Borders Region, one of the Kingdom's most prominent migratory bird routes, has witnessed the start of the hunting season, which begins annually in early October. The season holds special value for falconry and hunting enthusiasts across the Kingdom, as falconry is regarded as both a symbol of strength and an integral part of Saudi cultural heritage.
Falconers prepare for the season by setting up camps along known bird-migration routes and readying their hunting equipment, nets, and support birds. The Al-Hammad Plateau in the Northern Borders serves as a key destination for these activities, attracting falconers from across the region.
The Saudi Falcons Club is supporting the season with a falcon auction running from October through the end of November. The auction provides comprehensive services to falconers, including bird reception, transportation, and accommodation arrangements for owners. Falcons are showcased in a live competitive auction broadcast on the club’s television and digital platforms, reinforcing the cultural significance of falconry and promoting its sustainability.
