Jazan Governor Lays Foundation Stone for SAR46.7 Million Forest Research Center
Governor of Jazan Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz laid the foundation stone for a forest research center in the region at his office at the principality headquarters. Deputy Governor Prince Nasser bin Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Jalawi was present at the ceremony, along with CEO of the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) Eng. Ahmed Al-Ayadah and several environmental sector officials.
The project, costing more than SAR46.7 million, aims to advance specialized research and studies on forest trees, including mangroves and wild, mountain, and coastal trees. Research activities will cover seed conservation and germination, tree diseases, genetic characteristics, and carbon-related studies. These efforts will contribute to developing vegetation cover, preserving natural resources, and enhancing environmental sustainability.
The project will cover a total area of 33,246 square meters and include an administrative and research building, a specialized laboratory building, a visitors' center, a service area, and an environmental park. The facilities will provide an integrated environment for scientific research and help raise environmental awareness among the community.
The project forms part of the NCVC's efforts to advance environmental research and strengthen forest protection and development. It also aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.
