KKESH Becomes First Middle East Hospital to Join European Eye Bank Association
King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KKESH) has become a member of the European Eye Bank Association (EEBA) for a three-year term, marking the first time a hospital in the Middle East has been granted this recognition.
The EEBA is a specialized scientific and regulatory organization that includes eye banks primarily in Europe, as well as select institutions worldwide. It plays a crucial role in advancing the field of eye banking by setting quality standards, evaluating member performance, and ensuring the safety and accuracy of procedures. These efforts enhance the organization of the sector and improve its services.
KKESH’s membership reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to excellence as the first and largest eye specialist hospital in the region, renowned for its advanced services and capabilities. The hospital manages over 1,600 corneas annually, with about half transplanted by its specialized medical team, while the remainder are distributed to ophthalmology departments across hospitals in the Kingdom, contributing to a cohesive national healthcare system.
