King Abdulaziz University Students Place Seventh at MATE ROV Championship in Canada with Innovative Robotic Submarine
The "Red Sea Rovers" team from King Abdulaziz University placed seventh globally in the finals of the MATE ROV Competition World Championship in the Pioneer category, earning 374.67 points. The championship was hosted by Memorial University in Canada and featured 35 universities from around the world.
The team developed an advanced remotely operated vehicle (ROV) designed as an integrated engineering platform capable of conducting underwater operations and performing multiple tasks in complex aquatic environments and challenging operating conditions. The vehicle incorporates integrated control, sensing, and task execution systems, providing high stability and exceptional maneuverability while carrying out underwater exploration and engineering tasks.
The project took two years to design and develop through the university's Manufacturing Club, which brings together students from various academic disciplines.
