'Hope Ribbon 2026' App Surpasses 5,000 Female Users, Facilitates Breast Cancer Screening Referrals

The "Hope Ribbon 2026" app, launched by Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection, has attracted more than 5,000 female users, referring beneficiaries to healthcare facilities for necessary screenings.
The initiative reflects the university's efforts to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection, leverage technological innovation to enhance health awareness, and foster a culture of health and quality of life in society.
Head of the Community Partnership Unit at IAU's Academic Medical City Dr. Adam Aldhawyan explained that the app reflects the university's commitment to innovation and shaping the future. It offers a comprehensive awareness journey, beginning with educational modules, followed by risk assessment, and culminating in referrals to the nearest appropriate healthcare facility based on each user's needs and factors identified through the medical assessment, ensuring tailored guidance for every woman.
He noted that the app uses virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies to simulate the mammography screening experience, helping reduce screening-related anxiety, which can discourage some women from undergoing the procedure. The app also features motivational badges and options for users to share their experiences with others to extend its reach to a wider audience.
Aldhawyan highlighted the app's accessibility at any time and from any location, whether in cities across Eastern Region or elsewhere in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This allows beneficiaries to participate in the awareness experience and receive referrals to appropriate healthcare facilities.
He added that the growing number of users demonstrates the importance of employing modern technologies to strengthen health awareness, facilitate access to early detection services, and achieve the objectives of "Hope Ribbon 2026" in safeguarding community health.
