
Riyadh Season Signs Sponsorship of Strategic Partnership Between LALIGA and Thmanyah to Enhance Broadcast Quality for Saudi Football
Riyadh Season signed today (Thursday) in the British capital, London, a strategic partnership between the Spanish Football League (LALIGA) and Thmanyah, the exclusive broadcaster of Saudi competitions and a subsidiary of the Saudi Research and Media Group (SRMG).
The sponsorship agreement was signed on behalf of Riyadh Season by Eng. Faisal Bafarat, CEO of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA); on behalf of LALIGA by its President Javier Tebas; and on behalf of Thmanyah by its Founder and CEO Abdulrahman Abumalih, in the presence of Ms. Jomana Al-Rashed, CEO of SRMG and Chairman of Alpha Mr. Faisal Alkhamisi .
In a statement, H.E. Turki Alalshikh emphasized that Riyadh Season’s sponsorship of this high-level partnership is part of its broader efforts to cement the season’s global presence. He noted that the previous year’s sponsorship of LALIGA marked a key milestone in that journey, and this new initiative continues that strategic direction, reinforcing Riyadh Season’s international impact across diverse sectors.
For his part, Javier Tebas, President of LALIGA highlighted “We are pleased to join forces with Riyadh Season and Thmanyah to enhance the audiovisual production standards of the Saudi Pro League—which we have already enjoyed a fruitful collaboration. We are starting from a solid foundation, as the SPL’s audiovisual production is already managed by highly skilled professionals. Under the agreement, LALIGA will provide consultancy and technical advisory to significantly enhance the audiovisual broadcast quality, of the Saudi Pro League, including improvements in camera positioning, signal configuration, and audio systems, as well as advising on modern broadcast workflows and production standards.
The agreement also covers the expansion of modern broadcast technologies, improved stadium lighting distribution, and the development of a technical production manual.
LALIGA will deliver specialized training programs to develop the capabilities of local production teams, ensuring a gradual and effective transfer of knowledge in the audiovisual field.
Additionally, LALIGA is collaborating closely with local stakeholders in Saudi Arabia to develop a comprehensive anti-piracy strategy, aimed at safeguarding premium sports and entertainment audiovisual content within the Kingdom.
The project will be overseen by LALIGA President Javier Tebas, with the support of a dedicated team of audiovisual production experts, project managers, and regional coordinators through the MENA office, with general oversight from within the Kingdom.
