Youth Lead Volunteer Efforts in Makkah during Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan in Makkah is witnessing wide-scale volunteer efforts led by young men and women of the holy capital, reflecting the deep-rooted culture of giving and social responsibility, and contributing to supporting the services provided to Umrah performers during a season marked by high density at the Grand Mosque and its surrounding areas.
Volunteer efforts are distributed across multiple fields, including field organization and guidance, health and emergency support, serving fasting individuals, translation services, and community awareness, as well as participating in the preparation and readiness of public facilities. This reflects the diversity of volunteers’ roles and their ability to operate in high-density environments.
In the courtyards and roads leading to the Grand Mosque, volunteers organize pedestrian flow, direct visitors to designated routes, assist the elderly and people with disabilities, and provide guidance in multiple languages, enhancing smooth movement and reducing congestion during peak times.
Their presence is also evident in iftar and water distribution initiatives, through the organized distribution of meals and water to ensure efficiency and safety, alongside participation in health and preventive awareness campaigns and providing first-aid support when needed, enhancing visitors’ sense of reassurance.
During the holy month, Makkah remains a vibrant space of giving, where the values of cooperation and solidarity are embodied through the initiatives of its young men and women, making volunteer work a defining feature of the spirit of Ramadan in the holy capital.
