Gulf International Bank’s Ninth ‘GIB Golf Cup’ Held in Riyadh
Gulf International Bank – Saudi Arabia (GIB – Saudi Arabia) held the 9th edition of its annual ‘GIB Golf Cup’ in Riyadh, continuing the Bank’s longstanding support for golf and its engagement with the Kingdom’s business and sporting communities.
The invitation-only tournament took place at Dirab Golf & Country Club on 23 January, with 82 players participating in the 18-hole competition. The players comprised professional and amateur golfers, including senior executives, business leaders, and members of the Saudi golfing community. Attendees included GIB senior management members, Golf Saudi CEO Noah Alireza, Golf Saudi board members, Saudi national team players, and other prominent figures from the Kingdom’s business community.
The tournament was played in the ‘Two Ball Texas Scramble’ format, offering a competitive yet collaborative setting that has become a defining feature of the GIB Golf Cup.
Shane Kenneally and Muhammad Bashir were declared champions of the 2026 GIB Golf Cup after all three leading teams finished level on a score of 66, with final positions determined by countback. Michiel de Wet and Pascal Cudey secured second place, while Shabir Yakub and Mansoor Qureshi finished third. A Hole-in-One challenge was featured during the tournament with an Audi RSQ8 on offer; no Hole-in-One was recorded during the event.
Commenting on the event, GIB Group CEO, Abdulaziz Al-Helaissi said that the GIB Golf Cup continues to be an important annual platform for strengthening ties between the Bank, the golf community, and key business leaders in Saudi Arabia. He also expressed his appreciation to Golf Saudi, GIB’s partners, and all participants, and congratulated the winners and all players on contributing to the success of the tournament.
Golf Saudi CEO, Noah Alireza addressed attendees during the event, noting that the GIB Golf Cup has become a well-established fixture within Saudi Arabia’s growing golf ecosystem. He highlighted the tournament’s alignment with the Kingdom’s broader sports development objectives and its contribution to strengthening the national golf calendar.
