Dedicated Routes, Electric Carts Ease Access to Grand Mosque for Elderly, Disabled Visitors

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has implemented a comprehensive transport system to assist elderly and disabled visitors, facilitating smooth and safe travel from public transport stations to the Grand Mosque in a secure and well-organized environment that meets their specific needs.
The authority has designated four dedicated routes from public transport stations to the Grand Mosque using manually operated carts designed to navigate crowds efficiently. This system reduces physical strain on elderly visitors while ensuring orderly entry and exit, particularly during peak hours.
In addition, 37 electric carts are available to transport elderly visitors, each accommodating up to ten passengers. The service enhances operational capacity, enabling faster and easier access to the mosque’s courtyards via the Jarwal tunnel.
To aid disabled visitors, the system includes three specially equipped electric carts, operated by trained field teams to provide a humane service tailored to their specific requirements, while adhering to the highest standards of safety and comfort.
In total, 40 electric carts are deployed for elderly and disabled transport services, operating under a structured operational plan supervised by specialized teams to ensure continuous readiness and high service efficiency.
The authority emphasized that these services reflect its ongoing commitment to providing a safe and accessible experience for elderly and disabled visitors, demonstrating Saudi Arabia’s dedication to the comfort and care of the two holy mosques’ visitors.
