Economy Minister: Saudi Arabia's Transformative Growth Experience Tops Davos Agenda

Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's participation in the 2026 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos reflects its pivotal role in shaping the global economic agenda and draws on the Kingdom's transformative experience under Saudi Vision 2030.
He added that this participation reinforces Saudi Arabia's position as an active partner in advancing comprehensive development and innovative solutions to global challenges, ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity at the local, regional, and international levels.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, the minister explained that the forum will spotlight key themes aimed at institutionalizing international cooperation through participatory economic models that sustain transformative growth. He highlighted the Kingdom's success in creating new growth engines and building a robust, productive base driven by investment in strategic sectors and activities with high-quality economic returns. He noted that over the past five years, 74 out of 81 non-oil economic activities recorded annual growth exceeding 5%, with 38 achieving growth of more than 10%, reflecting a genuine expansion of the Kingdom's productive base.
The minister stressed that stimulating global economic transformation requires close collaboration focused on enhancing productive efficiency through wider adoption of digital solutions and artificial intelligence, alongside sustained investment in human capital. He said that radical innovation and the redesign of growth-oriented development policies represent the strategic pathway to economic integration, improved trade balance stability, and the creation of a resilient and sustainable global economic system that supports prosperity in emerging markets.
Alibrahim added that convening the global meeting in the first half of 2026 builds on the constructive outcomes of the special WEF meeting held in Riyadh in 2024 under the theme "Global Collaboration, Growth and Energy for Development." That meeting brought together heads of state, senior officials, experts, thought leaders, and representatives from the public and private sectors, international organizations, and academia.
The minister emphasized that the Kingdom's participation goes beyond mere representation, involving active contribution to advancing cooperation and strengthening the resilience of the global economy, particularly by balancing development expansion with responsible innovation policies. He concluded that Saudi Arabia is steadily positioning itself to lead international dialogue on sustainable economic models and knowledge exchange, enhancing national competitiveness and helping lay the foundations for a more stable global economy equipped to confront future challenges.
