Arab Sailing Championship Kicks Off in Jeddah

The 2026 Arab Sailing Championship (Optimist Class) events kicked off yesterday at the Jeddah Sailing Center on South Obhur Beach, bringing together 51 elite young sailors aged eight to 15 representing 13 Arab nations.

 The opening day included participant registration, technical equipment inspections, and practice heats, paving the way for official race stages that begin today and conclude September 21.

 Hosted by the Saudi Sailing Federation, the event aligns with ongoing efforts to expand sailing throughout the Kingdom, nurture emerging youth athletes, and cement the Red Sea coastline as a premier regional hub for maritime sports.

 The championship is organized in coordination with the Arab Sailing Federation, backed by the Ministry of Sport and the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, with Saudia Cargo serving as the official logistics partner.
