ZATCA Thwarts Two Smuggling Attempts, Seizes 301,325 Amphetamine Pills

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) thwarted two attempts to smuggle a total of 301,325 amphetamine (Captagon) pills into the Kingdom, hidden in two vehicles at Al-Haditha border crossing and the King Fahd Causeway.

ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi stated that in the first attempt, ZATCA seized 209,759 pills concealed inside a vehicle’s spare tire at the King Fahd Causeway, while 91,566 pills were discovered hidden within parts of a bus at the Al-Haditha crossing.

Following the seizures, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of the intended recipient of the drugs inside the Kingdom.

ZATCA reiterated its commitment to tightening customs control on all imports and exports to protect society from such illicit items. The authority encouraged the public to help combat smuggling by reporting suspicious activities via phone at 1910, email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or the international number 009661910. ZATCA ensures complete confidentiality and offers financial rewards for accurate information leading to successful seizures.
