Saudi Arabia Partners with Maldives to Host First International Forum on Integrity in Tourism

Saudi Arabia, in partnership with the Maldives, is organizing the inaugural Saudi-Maldives International Forum on Integrity in tourism, scheduled to be held in the Maldives from May 6 to 7.
The forum is jointly organized by Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) and the Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The forum will address several key topics, most notably enhancing transparency and good governance in the tourism sector, mechanisms for combating corruption in the industry, and ways to boost international partnerships and exchange expertise among member states and regional and international organizations. These discussions aim to support sustainable development and help build a trustworthy and safe tourism environment.
The forum is expected to attract wide international participation, with representatives from more than 40 countries and over 10 regional and international organizations. Attendees will include ministers, heads and representatives of anti-corruption enforcement bodies from OIC member states, along with key international organizations such as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network), and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). A distinguished group of local and international experts and specialists will also take part.
Organizing this forum reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting global efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the tourism sector.
The event stems from Saudi Arabia’s recognition of tourism as a key driver of sustainable development that aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030, and aims to build a thriving tourism sector, diversifies national income sources, and stimulates economic growth.
The forum is a continuation of the Kingdom’s leading role in fostering international cooperation against corruption. Tourism is a vital field for both development for strategic partnerships built on transparency and mutual trust. Their role in this forum underscores Saudi Arabia’s active engagement in launching impactful initiatives that reinforce integrity and enhance tourism.
