Environment Ministry bans import of live birds from India due to avian flu

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has temporarily banned the importation of live birds, hatching eggs and chicks from India due to highly pathogenic avian flu.

The Director-General of the Ministry's Department of Animal Risk Assessment Dr. Sanad Al-Harbi pointed out that the ban came following the warning bulletin issued by World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) which reports the emergence of bird flu infections of high-intensity in that region.
