H.E. Majid Al-Hogail Visits ALMA Destination, Champions Private Sector Benefitting from Progressive Regulatory Environment
His Excellency Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipalities and Housing, affirmed that the rapid urban development taking place in Jeddah reflects the integration of government efforts with private-sector investments. He noted that high-quality projects contribute to economic growth in the Western Region and enhance the city’s investment attractiveness. His Excellency visited the promising ALMA Destination project located along the Red Sea coastline north of Jeddah.
During the visit, the Minister was accompanied by H.E. Eng. Saleh Al-Turki, Mayor of Jeddah, to review the readiness of the project’s infrastructure and key facilities. The visit was attended by Eng. Abdulaziz Yamani, Chairman of Al Thuraya Al Omranya Properties, members of the Board, and Mr. Zuhair Bakheet, CEO of Al Thuraya Al Omranya Properties.
ALMA Destination had previously unveiled one of the largest integrated waterfront real estate developments developed by the private sector in the Kingdom. The project announced the completion of its masterplan and the development of its infrastructure and core facilities, marking the beginning of the urban development and construction phase. The project is now transitioning toward comprehensive development through the implementation of its residential, commercial, and tourism components in accordance with the approved planning vision, while accelerating investment activity within the project.
The masterplan of the project, which spans more than 3 million square meters in the Obhur area, consists of seven interconnected districts centered around two main islands, connected through a network of bridges, water canals, and marina facilities. The destination features an integrated network of waterways and a refined waterfront extending 12.5 kilometers, including a 5.5-kilometer waterfront promenade, navigable canals, bridges, and public parks. Water represents the central element of the masterplan, guiding land use, mobility patterns, and urban design while enhancing the quality of life across the destination.
The CEO, Mr. Zuhair Bakheet, stated that the project reflects the confidence in Saudi Arabia’s investment environment and the regulatory support that has helped accelerate progress and achieve development targets. He noted that ALMA Destination provides an environment that enables developers to implement high-quality projects within clear governance frameworks that support the sustainability and readiness of the real estate sector.
