German Ambassador to Yemen Visits Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden

German Ambassador to Yemen Thomas Schneider visited Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden Governorate, where he was briefed on the experience of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) in operating the hospital and providing healthcare services efficiently and effectively.

The visit included a tour of the hospital’s facilities and its advanced medical equipment. The hospital is considered one of the most prominent healthcare institutions that have contributed to improving healthcare services in Yemen, having provided more than four million medical services since beginning operations under the program. It comprises 14 specialized clinics and a cardiac center, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, and has a capacity of 270 beds, supported by more than 2,000 modern medical devices and equipment.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden also hosts capacity-building programs, including Arab Board examinations and diploma programs in respiratory care and intensive care, leveraging its capabilities to support the implementation of such programs and medical initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals.

Furthermore, the SDRPY supports the healthcare sector through projects and initiatives that include building and equipping hospitals and medical centers, rehabilitating and operating them, and developing the skills of medical personnel, to strengthen public health and improve the quality of medical services in Yemen.

Among the key healthcare projects implemented by the program is King Salman Medical and Educational City in Al-Mahrah Governorate, which includes the construction of a fully integrated hospital with a capacity of 110 beds, in addition to outpatient clinics and operating rooms.

The program’s healthcare initiatives also include the operation of Socotra Hospital, Al-Mokha Hospital, and Shabwa Hospital, along with covering their operational costs, to enhance their ability to meet the growing healthcare needs of the population and reduce medical referrals to other governorates.

The program also established a dialysis center in Al-Mahrah Governorate to meet the needs of patients with kidney diseases. The center has provided more than 100,000 specialized dialysis services, helping to alleviate the suffering of patients requiring regular treatment.

The initiatives also include the rehabilitation of the Maternal and Child Health Center in Socotra, Nogod Rural Hospital, and the Amadhen Health Center, including the provision of medical equipment required for their operation.

The program implements several medical projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of healthcare services and improving the quality of healthcare provided to the population through the provision of medical equipment and devices to several hospitals, including equipping the radiology and MRI department at Marib General Hospital Authority.

The SDRPY has implemented 287 projects and initiatives across eight key sectors: education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture and fisheries, capacity-building and support for the Yemeni government, and development programs, across various governorates.
