Saudi Reef: Rainfed Crops See Record Growth Exceeding 1,100%
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef) has announced that its rainfed crop sector, one of the program's eight sectors, has achieved remarkable progress, recording growth exceeding 1,100% and providing support to over 13,300 beneficiaries across the Kingdom.
Saudi Reef spokesperson Majed Al-Buraikan stated that the rainfed crop sector is a key contributor to the program's success. It has played a significant role in increasing production efficiency, enhancing food security and self-sufficiency, supporting sustainable agriculture in areas with limited water resources, improving the incomes of small farmers, and raising their standard of living. These achievements align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
He stated that the Saudi Reef program aims to achieve several important goals to advance the agricultural sector in rural Saudi Arabia. These goals include diversifying the agricultural production base, ensuring food security and self-sufficiency for various crops, improving the income and living standards of small farmers, and providing them with job opportunities. The program also seeks to promote social stability while preserving the environment and natural resources.
