Significant Leap in Intellectual Property Awareness in the Kingdom
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) announced the results of its 2025 study measuring intellectual property awareness in the Kingdom, conducted in cooperation with Umm Al-Qura University. The results showed a notable rise in the overall awareness index to 70.7 percent, compared with 65.8 percent last year, representing a 7.45 percent increase over 2024. The study assessed three key areas: basic intellectual property concepts, regulations and laws, and intellectual property-related practices. The survey covered all thirteen regions of the Kingdom and represented a broad range of demographic groups.
These results form part of the intellectual property system’s achievements during 2025. The Kingdom has further strengthened its international standing by recording outstanding results in the latest World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Pulse report, which measures global awareness of intellectual property. The report, based on a survey of 35,500 participants from 74 countries, ranked the Kingdom first worldwide in national awareness of the vital role of intellectual property in supporting economic growth and stimulating innovation, with 80 percent.
SAIP attributed these achievements to its sustained efforts through extensive awareness campaigns, specialized workshops, and strategic partnerships with both the public and private sectors. These initiatives have focused on embedding intellectual property concepts across all segments of society, from innovators and entrepreneurs to practitioners in media, industry, and other fields.
The authority affirmed that this progress is a direct outcome of its strategic initiatives in cooperation with the broader intellectual property ecosystem. Flagship programs such as intellectual property clinics have played a pivotal role in providing guidance and specialized consultations to innovators and businesses, contributing to higher levels of compliance and protection. In addition, SAIP Academy has had a significant impact through its training programs aimed at building national capabilities and enhancing the skills of practitioners and specialists across various intellectual property disciplines, alongside ongoing awareness campaigns conducted throughout the Kingdom.
