General Authority for Competition Participates in OECD Competition Committee Meetings in Paris
General Authority for Competition (GAC), represented by its CEO Dr. Fahad Al-Shathri, participated in the meetings of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Competition Committee, held in Paris.
During a roundtable session focused on evaluating the impact of competition authorities' activities, Dr. Al-Shathri highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to foster a competitive environment. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 seeks to diversify the economy, boost private sector participation, and integrate more effectively into global value chains, all while enhancing overall competitiveness.
Dr. Al-Shathri noted that the authority has played a significant role in promoting policies that encourage competition, resulting in positive outcomes in productivity, investment, and broader economic growth. Between 2022 and 2024, the authority’s enforcement of the Competition Law contributed an estimated SAR305.4 million to the economy, in line with international best practices.
GAC continues to actively engage in global forums such as the OECD meetings to exchange expertise, adopt best practices, and strengthen cooperation with international organizations, all in support of its mission to further develop the Kingdom’s competitive landscape.
