Makkah Municipality Launches Eco-Hajj Initiative with Waste Sorting Education for Pilgrims

The Holy Makkah Municipality, in partnership with King Abdulaziz University, has launched an environmental initiative in Makkah and the holy sites to educate pilgrims on the importance of waste sorting and proper disposal. This collaboration aims to enhance environmental sustainability during the Hajj season and strengthen ties between the municipal sector and academic institutions.

 Specialized teams and volunteers from both organizations are conducting field-based awareness sessions, teaching pilgrims about the importance of separating organic and inorganic waste and adhering to sound environmental guidelines.

 The municipality emphasized that the initiative seeks to instill the concepts of cleanliness, public health, and environmental awareness among pilgrims. It also engages various community segments in serving pilgrims, ultimately projecting a civilized and sustainable image of Makkah and the Hajj season.
