
Estidamah Center Signs MoU to Support Sustainable Agricultural Production in Saudi Arabia
The National Center for Sustainable Agriculture Research and Development (Estidamah) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dutch company Hudson River Biotechnology (HRB). The signing took place in the presence of Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Mansour Hilal Al-Mushaiti, during the GreenTech Exhibition, taking place in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This marks a significant step aimed at enhancing international cooperation in research and technical fields related to sustainable agriculture.
Representing the two parties at the signing were Director General of Estidamah Dr. Khalid Al-Ruhaili, and Jorik Bremer from HRB. This MoU comes within the framework of both parties' efforts to boost collaboration in agricultural research and development and leverage modern biotechnologies to support the sustainability of agricultural production in the Kingdom.
The MoU aims to develop cooperative mechanisms for transferring and localizing advanced genomics technologies and improving plant tissue culture techniques. It also focuses on implementing specialized training programs to qualify national talent in biotechnology and genetic modification. Furthermore, the agreement seeks to launch applied projects that enhance the performance and productivity of Saudi Arabia's strategic crops, boosting their resilience to environmental and biological stresses, ultimately raising agricultural production efficiency and achieving long-term sustainability.
