
Makkah Municipality Removes 473,000 Tons of Waste During 1446 AH Hajj Season
The Holy Makkah Municipality announced the removal of more than 473,000 tons of waste during the 1446 AH Hajj season, as part of a comprehensive and advanced operational plan designed to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in Makkah and the holy sites.
The waste management operations were carried out by field teams supported by modern machinery and qualified personnel, ensuring efficient implementation throughout the Hajj period.
In a statement marking the conclusion of its Hajj operational plan, the municipality highlighted key achievements in general cleaning efforts aimed at safeguarding public health and providing a safe and clean environment for residents and pilgrims. Over 88,000 waste containers were strategically distributed across vital areas, while 1,680 liters of concentrated disinfectant solutions were used to sterilize public spaces and service facilities as part of a rigorous preventive health plan.
The municipality’s rapid response teams efficiently handled 2,344 service reports during the season. Additionally, 1,235 waste compactor boxes, each with a capacity of 20 cubic meters, were operated to expedite waste collection and alleviate congestion in high-traffic areas.
