KSrelief Delivers Vaccine Cold-Chain Equipment to Yemen's Aden and Taiz Governorates
King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), handed over vaccine cold-chain equipment to Yemen's Ministry of Public Health and Population, including 32 solar-powered refrigerators and 12 freezers, as part of a project to strengthen the cold-chain system, immunization services, and response to measles outbreaks in Aden and Taiz governorates.
Director of KSrelief's Office in Aden Governorate Saleh Al-Dhibani said the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment, through KSrelief, to supporting Yemen's health sector and strengthening its capacity to provide essential services to children and the communities most in need, adding that the solar-powered refrigerators and freezers will ensure the efficient preservation of vaccines at health facilities, particularly in areas facing challenges with electrical supply.
Al-Dhibani added that the project includes strengthening the measles surveillance system and building the capacities of technical personnel in the early detection of cases, reporting, epidemiological investigation, and sample transportation, contributing to rapid response and containment of outbreak hotspots. The project will provide measles and rubella vaccination services to 348,282 children.
The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's humanitarian and relief efforts, delivered through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to ensure the continuity of immunization services in Yemen's most vulnerable areas, expand access to vaccines, and reduce measles-related infections.
