Saudi Arabia Supports Yemen with Sustainable Development Projects in Q2 2026
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continued its development initiatives and projects supporting vital fields and sectors in the Republic of Yemen during the second quarter of 2026 through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY).
The initiatives follow a comprehensive vision focused on capacity building, human capital development, infrastructure enhancement, and improving the efficiency of basic services, thereby promoting stability and supporting economic recovery and growth in Yemen.
Under the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and under the supervision of Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia provided Yemen with $150 million in urgent support through SDRPY. The support took the form of petroleum products to meet the operational needs of power stations across Yemeni governorates, helping ensure the stability and continuity of electricity services.
Since the beginning of 2026, and under the directives of the Saudi leadership, SDRPY has launched a package of vital development projects worth SAR1.9 billion and provided budgetary support to Yemen to cover operational expenses and salaries. The support responds to the urgent needs of the Yemeni government and helps promote economic and financial stability.
Saudi Arabia’s efforts have included a broad development program encompassing projects and initiatives across eight vital sectors. These include education, health, energy, water, transport, agriculture, fisheries, development programs, and the development and support of the Yemeni government’s capabilities.
Since its launch in 2018, SDRPY has implemented more than 300 projects and initiatives spanning eight key sectors. The diversity of these projects reflects Saudi Arabia’s active role and integrated efforts to achieve sustainable development, strengthen stability, and support economic recovery and growth in Yemen.
