Buraidah Dates Carnival Boosts Economic Activity in Qassim
The Buraidah International Dates Carnival is contributing to economic activity in Qassim Region by creating direct and indirect seasonal employment opportunities in several fields related to organizing and operating the carnival throughout its 75-day duration.
The event is the world's largest seasonal carnival for marketing dates. It generates continuous commercial and economic activity that stimulates the dates trade sector, boosts sales and purchases, and increases demand for shipping, transportation, and logistics services. This supports supply chains and enhances the efficiency of product distribution until it reaches local and international markets.
Carnival CEO and Secretary of the Higher Committee Dr. Khaled Al-Nuqidan said that the growing turnout of visitors, shoppers, and investors from inside and outside Saudi Arabia has had a positive impact on economic activity in the region and contributed to creating nearly 4,000 seasonal jobs for young men and women. The jobs include organization, marketing, shipping, loading and unloading operations, as well as logistics and supporting professions.
He added that the committee has allocated sites for families working in the cottage industry to display and market their products and prepared designated spaces for food truck operators. This enhances the participation of small businesses and entrepreneurs in the economic activity accompanying the carnival and provides visitors with a variety of services to meet their needs.
