A FIRST STEP FOR AC MILAN IN SAUDI ARABIA: THE JEDDAH ACADEMY IS BORN
AC Milan and SportPlex announce the opening of a new AC Milan Academy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking the Club’s first step in this strategic market. Launching in January, this long-term initiative will introduce a development model aligned with the AC Milan Method, focused on creating sporting, educational, and social values.
This project supports Saudi Vision 2030, led by the Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Investment, to advance the country’s sports sector and promote health and well-being. AC Milan is partnering with SportPlex, Jeddah’s largest indoor multi-sport facility, to focus on excellence, social impact, and sustainability. Club coaches and local experts will apply the AC Milan Method to help young players develop technical skills, tactical discipline, and personal growth on and off the field.
Maikel Oettle, Chief Revenue Officer of AC Milan, stated: “The opening of the AC Milan Academy in Jeddah marks the Club’s first concrete step toward a long-term vision in a region that is key to our international growth. Saudi Arabia is experiencing significant transformation, with clear goals to develop sport, empower youth, and foster a more active society, in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Through our partnership with SportPlex, we introduce the AC Milan Method to Jeddah, focusing on excellence, education, and values, to help create sporting, educational, and social value for future generations.”
Muhammed Abudawood, Cofounder and CEO of Sportplex, commented: “Partnering with AC Milan was a natural fit for SportPlex. Our principles and long-term goals are closely aligned. This partnership reflects our commitment to bringing world-class football development to our community, combining international expertise with local ambition to inspire the next generation of players and develop future champions on and off the field. On a personal level, it is also a privilege to work with a team I have followed and admired for many years.”
The Academy’s launch in Jeddah demonstrates AC Milan’s commitment to expanding its presence in the region through its Academy network. This commitment is also shown by the First Team’s current presence in Saudi Arabia as they prepare for the 2025 Supercoppa Italiana, following previous editions in Jeddah and Riyadh. The Middle East is becoming increasingly important for AC Milan, and this initiative will help strengthen relationships with regional stakeholders, including institutions and partners.
