Wheelchairs, Electric Carts Provided for Pilgrims at Prophet’s Mosque

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque provides integrated and accessible services for people with disabilities and elderly visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque during the Hajj season to facilitate access, mobility, and prayer.
The services include 4,700 wheelchairs available at designated locations inside the mosque and its courtyards, which can be borrowed from gate management offices and service points. Electric carts accommodating several passengers also transport more than 8,000 elderly people and individuals with disabilities daily across the mosque’s outer courtyards.
The service ecosystem also includes prayer areas near the mosque’s main entrances, equipped with dedicated paths for wheelchairs and mobility devices, in addition to accessible entrances, elevators, ramps, and guidance signs. Dedicated parking spaces for vehicles of people with disabilities are available near entrances in the underground parking area.
Field staff and volunteers provide guidance and assistance services, while Braille copies of the Quran, translated sermons, and interactive digital maps help visitors access facilities and services. More than 7,500 field personnel oversee operational services during Hajj, focusing on crowd management and multilingual support to ensure pilgrims perform their worship with ease and comfort.
