Riyadh Hosts Ayathon: A Fusion of Technology and Qur’anic Devotion

The Programmers Association orchestrated Ayathon, a vibrant hackathon dedicated to crafting digital tools for the Holy Qur’an. This unique event united a diverse group of programmers, designers, researchers, and Islamic scholars, all driven by a shared mission to enhance the spiritual and intellectual engagement with the Qur’an through cutting-edge technology. The initiative, which recently wrapped up, sought to create innovative solutions that make memorization, recitation, and reflection on the Qur’an more accessible and meaningful for users across the globe.


Abdulaziz Al-Oraij, the association’s chairman, emphasized Ayathon’s role in harnessing modern tools to serve sacred purposes. “Our goal is to empower Qur’anic communities with dynamic, interactive platforms,” he stated, highlighting the event’s focus on blending technical expertise with spiritual depth. By fostering collaboration among tech innovators and Islamic scholars, Ayathon sparked the development of apps and tools that resonate with both tradition and modernity, offering users worldwide an enriched digital experience rooted in Islamic values.

The hackathon, guided by Mohammed Al-Wadee and Maha Al-Atwi, pushed boundaries by integrating advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and user-centric design. Al-Wadee noted the event’s aim to produce sustainable projects that align with Islamic principles, while Al-Atwi praised the synergy of creativity and intellectual rigor, supported by a judging panel of global experts. From AI-driven analytics to immersive interfaces, Ayathon’s outcomes promise to deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions, redefining how the digital generation connects with the Qur’an.
