KACST Team Startup Secures First Industrial License for Titanium Powder Production
A startup founded by a team from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) obtained an industrial license to establish the first local factory for titanium powder production, a milestone reflecting the role of research institutions in advancing national industry.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to transfer and localize advanced technologies used in vital sectors.
The startup, incubated within the KACST Ventures Program (KVP), aims to transfer and localize titanium powder production technology. Titanium powder is a key material in advanced industries such as aerospace, aviation, medicine, and 3D printing, strengthening national industrial security and reducing import dependence.
KACST’s advanced laboratory infrastructure played a key role in supporting the startup to develop titanium powder production technologies meeting global standards.
Moreover, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources’ Rafid Program provided the startup with the industrial license and a financial grant to support local content in advanced industries, enabling efficient entry into local and international markets.
