Carlsen, Firouzja Advance to Chess Final at Esports World Cup

The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the chess tournament, one of the official competitions of this year's Esports World Cup, currently underway in Riyadh, concluded yesterday. The Esports World Cup will continue through August 24.

 French player Alireza Firouzja of Team Falcons secured his place in the final after defeating Nodirbek Abdusattorov in the quarterfinals and Arjun Erigaisi in the semifinals.

 World champion Magnus Carlsen of Team Liquid, who holds the highest global ranking in chess, continued his exceptional form and secured a spot in the final by overcoming Nihal Sarin in the quarterfinals and defeating Hikaru Nakamura in a widely followed and highly competitive semifinal match.

 The highly anticipated final match between Carlsen and Firouzja is set to take place today, alongside the third-place playoff between Hikaru Nakamura and Arjun Erigaisi.
