
Chess Competitions Conclude at Esports World Cup with Winners Crowned in Three Tournaments
The Open Chess Championship, organized by the Saudi Chess Federation as part of the side events of this year's Esports World Cup, concluded yesterday at Boulevard City in Riyadh. The tournament featured a total prize pool of SAR40,000.
Three competitions were held, beginning with the Kingdom Champions Tournament, in which player Ahmed Al-Ruhaili won first place and a prize of SAR10,000. Sultan Al-Jameel came in second, earning SAR6,000, followed by Yazeed Al-Shanabeer in third with SAR5,000, and Emad Khayyat in fourth with SAR3,000.
In the Schools Tournament, Ezz Basri claimed first place and a prize of SAR3,000. He was followed by Ezzeldin Shtiwi, who received SAR2,000, and Ritha Palamorgan in third place with SAR1,000.
In the Open Tournament, Hisham Abdulrahman secured first place and a prize of SAR5,000, with Mohamed Haddouch placing second and earning SAR3,000, and Sameh Sadeq finishing third with SAR2,000.
President of the Saudi Chess Federation Mohammed Almasoudi emphasized that the inclusion of chess in the Esports World Cup represents a significant step in elevating the game’s presence. He praised the high level of competition, strong participation, and notable engagement from all age groups.
